Seyval blanc
Origin
Seyval (an interspecific hybrid) is the result of the crossbreeding between 5656 Seibel and Rayon d’Or (4986 Seibel).
Registration Information
In France, Seyval is officially listed in the “Catalogue of vine varieties” on the A list and is classified for wine grapes. This variety is also listed in the catalogues of other Member States of the European Union: Netherlands and Romania.
Vine Characteristics
Seyval is a vigorous and fertile variety that can be pruned short or moderately long, with training being preferable. Its grape bunches are small to medium in size. The berries are also small to medium in size and very bloomed.
Wine Characteristics
Seyval produces wines of acceptable quality.
Susceptibility to Diseases and Pests
Seyval resists moderately well to downy mildew. It is slightly susceptible to Botrytis and it must be grafted.
