Regent
Vine Characteristics
Regent is a red grape variety that ripens mid to late season and produces medium-sized clusters. It is a high-yielding variety, suited for cooler climates with long growing seasons. The vine grows upright and thrives in dry, cool areas, where its fruit develops well. Regent’s late ripening makes it particularly suited for regions with extended growing seasons.
Wine Characteristics
Regent wines are known for their deep color, moderate acidity, and noticeable tannins. They often feature aromas of cherries or blackcurrants and can achieve high alcohol content due to the grape’s high sugar concentration. The wines typically offer clean vinifera-style flavors, with some German versions being aged in oak. Regent’s high pigmentation can sometimes make the color appear intensely vivid, and the grape is generally easy to work with, producing quality wines with relatively straightforward winemaking techniques.
