Grüner Veltliner
Vine Characteristics
Grüner Veltliner is a widely grown Austrian white grape variety that thrives in silty soils, which provide the deep root penetration it requires. The vine is highly productive and benefits from careful yield management to maintain quality. However, it is sensitive to dry conditions and performs best in well-moisturized environments. Grape clusters are mdeium to large with large berries.
Wine Characteristics
Grüner Veltliner produces a wide range of wines, from light, acidic styles to those with naturally high sugar levels. The quality of the wine is greatly influenced by the vineyard conditions and yield. Winegrowers aim to create wines with spicy, peppery characteristics or those showcasing stone fruit flavors.
