Origin
According to genetic analyses, Chambourcin (interspecific hybrid) comes from a cross between 11369 Joannès Seyve and Plantet (5455 Seibel).
Registration Information
In France, Chambourcin is officially listed in the “Catalogue of vine varieties” on list A and is classified for wine grapes.
Vine Characteristics
Chambourcin is highly resistant to winter cold but sensitive to chlorosis and drought. This vigorous variety has a horizontal growth habit and can be pruned short; however, it is occasionally prone to millerandage. The clusters range from medium to large, with medium-sized berries.
Wine Characteristics
This variety has good sugar accumulation potential. Chambourcin is capable of producing richly colored wines of suitable quality, containing anthocyanin diglucosides.
Susceptibility to Diseases and Pests
Chambourcin is rarely affected by mildew and powdery mildew but is sensitive to phylloxera.
