Canadice
Vine Characterisics
Canadice (NY 45625) is a seedless grape variety derived from the cross of Bath and Himrod. The vines are vigorous, and the fruit ripens early with medium-sized, pink to light red berries in compact clusters. The flavor is mildly labrusca, and the slipskin is tender and edible. Canadice also performs well in storage, maintaining quality for up to four months with proper treatment. The flavour of this variety has been described as mildly spicy.
Susceptibility to Diseases and Pests
Canadice is disease-resistant, benefiting from Himrod’s hardiness. It is however slightly more susceptible to Black rot, Botrytis, and downy mildew. Much less susceptible to powdery mildew.
